Michigan’s Thumb Area is outlined by Saginaw Bay and Lake Huron, and includes the tri-counties of Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola. The Thumb Area is a travel destination rich in natural scenic beauty, strong cultural heritage and plenty of all-season activities. With more than 150 miles of shoreline, 2,100 miles of rivers and streams, 51,000 acres of public recreation land, 49,000 acres of state game/wildlife areas and plenty of hometown festivals and events, there’s something to do and see for everyone.

Whether you drive up M-53 or M-24, come across M-46 or M-81, or cruise along the shoreline on M-25, you’ll discover Thumb Area towns; such as, Port Austin, Caseville, Bad Axe, Harbor Beach, Lexington, Sandusky, Marlette, Port Sanilac, Caro, Cass City, Sebewaing and more.

The Thumb Area is just a short drive from most metropolitan areas in southeast Michigan, including Detroit, Flint, Lansing and Port Huron. In fact, most Thumb Area attractions can be enjoyed on a tank of gas!
